A Marching Arts Ensemble for Students in Plainfield School District 202

Prospective Members

Plainfield Winter Guard competes in Scholastic A Class in Winter Guard International and Midwest Color Guard Circuit events. The organization is open to students enrolled in Plainfield Community Consolidated School District schools as well as students who are home-schooled who live with district boundaries.

Normal Rehearsal Schedule

Monday, 6:00-9:00 PM
Wednesday, 6:00-9:00 PM
Sunday, 1:00-6:00 PM
All rehearsals will be held at Plainfield Central High School unless otherwise notified.

There will be a December Camp during Winter Break, TBD

Varsity Audition Dates
Monday, November 4th, 6:00-9:00 PM
Wednesday, November 6th, 6:00-9:00 PM
Sunday, November 10th, 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM (lunch break from 12:00-1:00, bring your own lunch or go out to eat)
There is a $30 Audition Fee for all members. All audition fees must be paid online as part of your audition registration. Please wear form-fitting black clothing to all clinic & audition events and bring a flag from your home school, wear gloves, and bring water.

Staff & Instructors

Chris Vanderwall | Executive Director

Chris Vanderwall began his role as Director of Bands at Plainfield Central High School in 2018. Prior to PCHS, Mr. Vanderwall was Director of Bands John F. Kennedy Middle School in Plainfield. He earned a Bachelor of Music Education Degree at VanderCook College of Music in 2006 and a Master of Music Education Degree at the University of Illinois in 2011. His role with the Plainfield Winter Guard includes communication with member families and community partners, managing finances, rehearsal facilities, transportation needs, and other organizational/administrative responsibilities.

Kelsey Arnony | Ensemble Director

Kelsey Arnony is from Plainfield, Illinois. She has worked with multiple groups including Plainfield Central HS, Minooka HS Winter Guard, Providence Catholic Color Guard/Winter Guard, and taught Pioneer Drum and Bugle Corps. She was part of the huge success of bringing back Plainfield Winter Guard during the 2021 Virtual season during the pandemic. She is currently the director of the Plainfield Central Color Guard. She has performed with Plainfield Winter Guard when she was in school, Independence Winter Guard, NEXUS Indoor Percussion, Pioneer Drum and Bugle Corps, she finished off her performing career with Onyx World Winter Guard.

Rebecca Aguilar | Instructor

Rebecca Aguilar is from Carpentersville, Illinois and is pursuing a Bachelor’s in Communicative Disorders – SLP at Northern Illinois University. She teaches color guard at Plainfield North High School. Rebecca was a huge help with the 2021 Plainfield Winter Guard in our virtual season, and has marched with Allegiance Winter Guard, Colts Drum and Bugle Corps, and the Blue Stars Drum and Bugle Corps.

Uriel Herrera | Instructor

Uriel Herrera is from Dekalb, Illinois and is a senior at Northern Illinois University. He is finishing up his B.A. in French and hopes to be a translator one day. Uriel began working with the Plainfield North Color Guard in 2021 and is excited to be on staff with Plainfield Winter Guard. Uriel also spent a season marching with Allegiance Winter Guard in 2018.
